Mark Teskey > Anza Verbenas - 20x30 Gallery Wrap - $400

In March, 2009 I made a weeklong trip to the deserts of southwestern California with the renowned landscape photographer Jon Cornforth – my personal landscape photography mentor. For five days we scouted the deserts to find the perfect blooms with the perfect background with the perfect lighting conditions and the perfect clouds. On day six, we got three of the four – and here are the results. Now, If there were only clouds..

Mark Teskey > The Purple Rose of Spring - 30x20 Gallery Wrap - $400

This image is of the genus Tulipa – the common Tulip. It was taken in the midst of a ham-induced lethargy shortly after Easter dinner on Easter Sunday, 2009. This picture is proof that you don’t have to travel a great distance to make a beautiful picture. The key to this picture is the very shallow depth of field causing the viewer to focus on the open blossom in the lower left hand corner of the image. I love the simple composition and vivid colors in this picture!

Mark Teskey > Fall Colors at the Black Canyon

30x20 Gallery Wrap - $400
12x8 Matted Print - $40

Landscape photography is supposed to be a methodical activity with a lot of preparation and setup to capture the perfect angle under the perfect light. This shoot at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison was anything but perfect – there was a harsh mid-day sun, winds that threatened to blow me into the canyon, and a father waiting in the van. To deal with the lighting conditions, I shot three different exposures and blended them to create the final image.

Mark Teskey > Animas Falls

30x20 Gallery Wrap - $400
8x12 Matted Print - $40

This picture of a beautiful mountain stream was taken just above the town of Animas Forks, Colorado. Animas Forks is one of the best preserved ghost towns in the mining areas around Silverton, Colorado. The coppery blue color of the creek comes from the heavy mineral deposits and runoff from the abandoned mines and mills like the one in the upper right corner of the image. This image was made in October 2009 during a 10-day trip to Southwestern Colorado with my father.

Mark Teskey > Red Dawn in Door County - Metallic Gallery Wrap - $400

This wasn’t the picture I set out to take at the first rays of light that day. My wife and I were in Door County for our fifth wedding anniversary – and she was joining me for her first landscape shoot. I was very focused on shooting some rocks (just off camera left) lit by the dawn sun. While doing that, I set up my second camera to capture the sunrise in case anything interesting happened. When the sun finally came up, I quickly forgot about my rocks!

Mark Teskey > Second Beach at Sunset
Mark Teskey > North Maui Morning

30x20 Metallic Gallery Wrap - $400
8x10 framed to 16x24 - $200
8x10 Matted Metallic Print - $50

I think I took my life into my hands on this shot more than any other in this exhibition. Between a 90-minute breakneck drive in the dark on the Hana Highway to beat the rising sun and scrambling across lava rocks that are both razor sharp and icy slick - it was a miracle I got this unscathed. The shot is from the Kenae Peninsula on the north side of Maui.
