Mark Teskey > Animas Falls

30x20 Gallery Wrap - $400
8x12 Matted Print - $40

This picture of a beautiful mountain stream was taken just above the town of Animas Forks, Colorado. Animas Forks is one of the best preserved ghost towns in the mining areas around Silverton, Colorado. The coppery blue color of the creek comes from the heavy mineral deposits and runoff from the abandoned mines and mills like the one in the upper right corner of the image. This image was made in October 2009 during a 10-day trip to Southwestern Colorado with my father.

Mark Teskey > Assisi Villa

24x30 framed - $400
8x12 Matted Print - $40

The iconic picture of the Windows photographic exhibition was made in Assisi, Italy in November, 2007. The weather was as gloomy as it appears in the picture. Within an hour, a chilly rain was making our tour much soggier. This beautiful house is pretty far off the beaten path – it isn’t near anything famous in Assisi other than the parking lot. This picture uses a faux-HDR process where a single RAW image is processed three different ways and blended to produce the final dramatic image.

Mark Teskey > Ouray Box Canyon

30x20 Gallery Wrap - $400
8x10 Matted Print - $35

This image was captured in the midst of a rainstorm at the bottom of the box canyon in Ouray, Colorado. Fortunately, not a lot of rain was filtering to the bottom of the canyon and I was able to work without too much difficulty. The bigger challenge turned out to be the slick rocks I had to traverse to get the best angle on the rapids. The extreme difference between the dark of the canyon and the light outside meant that I needed to shoot three different exposures and blend them to create the final image.

Mark Teskey > Vernazza Harbor

30x20 Gallery Wrap - $400
12x8 Matted Print - $40

Want cloudy dramatic skies in your Italian pictures? Go in November! My favorite place to visit and take pictures in all of Italy is a little place called the Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre consists of five small towns clustered to the Mediterranean hillside that are virtually only accessible by foot, train, or boat. The most picturesque of the five is Vernazza due to the photogenic harbor and brightly painted buildings. Our apartment for our stay in Vernazza was the top floor of the yellow building in the center of the image.

Mark Teskey > That's a Nice Dinghy You've Got There! - 20x30 Gallery Wrap - $400

In Rockport, Massachusetts there is a crab shack that has been photographed, painted, and drawn millions of times. It is the iconic shot of Rockport and everybody that shoots in Rockport has that picture. Rather than go for the stereotypical shot of the crab shack, I found a much more interesting foreground with the dinghies tied to the pier. Good pictures are like books – they must have a good introduction (the boats in the foreground) and a good ending (that famous crab shack barely visible in the top quarter of the image).

Mark Teskey > Second Beach Sunset

24x16 Gallery Wrap - $350
8x12 Matted Print - $40

This image was taken at Second Beach on the Olympic peninsula of Washington State. It was taken on the first night of a 3-day trip in April, 2008. It was lucky that I got this shot since the weather was too nice for interesting landscape portraiture the rest of the trip. Imagine that – bright sun in America’s rain forest! This picture was taken approximately 5 minutes before sundown – and within a minute or two, the light was gone and the show was over.
